We recently had the chance to see an interesting black diamond imitation here at ALGT laboratory. It is in reality a polycrystalline material composed of tiny fragments of black diamonds glued together by a silicon based ‘matrix’. This material has been on the market since around 2000, but it is still quite unusual to see it in the lab.
